Education Setting Feedback

Melissa Godfrey - Head of Year 9

Cara has been providing counselling at Samuel Whitbread for a number of years now and we are very fortunate to be able to provide this service. Cara has supported many of our students, and has had a positive impact on their emotional wellbeing. Cara provides a safe and welcoming environment for students, and has been able to engage with many who find talking to adults very difficult. Cara always goes above and beyond, and is on hand to support staff if needed. We are very thankful for all her hard work.

We just wouldn’t be without Cara here at Samuel Whitbread. She is part of the team here and understands the complexities of a big school like ours. All of the children that we have referred tell of the amazing impact that Cara has on their lives. We have a very open and honest relationship that has developed over many years now, she is very clear with us which children and young people will benefit from her work, and will tell us if young people need referrals elsewhere. She has always gone well above and beyond the SLA for us, and in reality it has never felt like we’ve needed an SLA as Cara has been the ultimate professional and friend.

Cara has been very beneficial for the students from year 5 to year 13. She ran small groups for SATs students which made a real impact on their ability to cope with the exams and her 1:1 sessions helped students with a variety of different emotional needs including bereavement, anxiety and self-harm, students respond well to her and take on board strategies that help them. She has always worked closely with staff and is flexible which is really helpful in a school environment. Cara has made a real difference to the lives of our students.
